TaiJaune (Tai) Robinson was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio, where she was a K-12th grade student within the Youngstown City Public School District. TaiJaune attended Youngstown Early College for high school, where she obtained her associate degree in liberal arts and social Sciences from Youngstown State University (YSU) the day before graduating with her High School Diploma in 2012. Once she graduated from high school, TaiJaune began another internship, focusing on lean and six sigma practices within the organization while working to obtain her bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering. During this time, TaiJaune became a STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) Student Ambassador for YSU where her primary role was to demonstrate and explain the process of additive manufacturing (3D Printing) to multiple diverse audiences. TaiJaune graduated from YSU with her bachelor’s degree in 2015.
In 2016, she began her engineering career at General Motors. Throughout her career in automotive, TaiJaune has had the privilege to work on multiple programs and different commodities as a Specification Analyst, Validation Engineer, Issue Resolution Co-Chair, Design Release Engineer and currently works as the Engineering Business Manager for General Motors Motorsports. While growing as an engineer through GM, Tai has also been an active part of engineering resource groups such as GM Women, GM African Ancestry Network, and GM Motorsports Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion advisory board. In March of 2021, TaiJaune graduated with her master’s degree in Lean Manufacturing from Kettering University. In October of 2021, TaiJaune received the national Women of Color Rising Star in Technology Award.
TaiJaune believes that the only choice you have to make is the choice to be great. This is why she chose to lead by example with creating The Pop-Up Series Non-Profit Organization in 2018 where she works to promote a healthy lifestyle while having fun! Tai is a certified Zumba® instructor (2015), Hip Hop Choreographer and Dance/Cheer coach. Her organization serves as an impactful outlet and connects her love for dance, passion for community service and desire for problem solving. The Pop Up Series has served and continues to serve multiple cities with fitness workshops as well as youth leadership, health, and wellness events. Along with her non-profit organization, Tai is a volunteer through Big Brother Big Sisters of Central Carolina’s and the regional director of Math 4 Success where she is a K-College Math Instructor and Private Tutor. Her personal mission is to live and lead in her purpose.
